Thank you for this great essay. I think that the Soviet experience is very similar.

Thank you. I appreciate the kind note. Yes, I have had Soviet block students and they were very receptive to Hayek.

When Communism in China collapses - as it will any day now - perhaps the hard working Chinese people can create something better out of the ashes.

Christopher, I am not following Chinese affairs closely, and wondering what events or trends give you a ground for such conclusion that collapse of Chinese communism is approaching?

Unmitigated evil eventually collapses.

Youth unemployment. Corruption causing sinkholes to appear and buildings to collapse.

Whole cities built in the middle of nowhere for no one which are now being dismantled.

In general, centralized command and control economy.

Oh, and Uighurs.

Oh, and attacking old ladies meditating with Falun Gong.

Did I mention the evil?

It's not new stuff, the persecution of Falun Gong lasts for decades, the repression against Uigurs won't change anything for Chinese majority.

But I do agree with you that the evil will eventually collapse. I just thought that you have something more specific for our days.

“Tomorrow” is as good a prediction as any.

These inherently unstable, evil regimes are all-powerful, until the day their leaders are dead or hiding in holes in the ground.

Why not tomorrow?
