I'm reading this in mid-2023, and wow did you nail this! It is difficult to think about how a small group of public health officials was allowed to "dictate" the Covid narrative. If even one economist, such as yourself, had been allowed to weigh in and given latitude for decision making the world would be in a much different place than we find ourselves today. In the States there are photos of long-lines of cars with people lined up for tests. And you are right people are hoarding home tests. I have more essays coming soon on the personal mindset side of the issue.

Unfortunately, like most people, economists cheered for the vaccines. They ignored what they should have known and been shouting about.
