Professor Barry Brownstein thank you for illuminating:

"Hayek warned of the crisis we are facing today in 1944. Considerable portions of the populations in America and the West lack comprehension of the principles that afford and sustain freedom. It's possible that your neighbors, family, and friends don’t notice what you notice as freedom erodes. They lack understanding of the foundations of human flourishing, so they have no context for noticing actions you see as attacks on freedom. Their lives go on; what you notice is irrelevant to them."

Nailed it.

Thanks, Carl. In the coming weeks we will be talking more about what they are missing.

The American composer/artist Don McLean (American pie) wrote a song about Vincent Van Gough (Vincent). One of the verses from Vincent is: "this world was not meant for someone as beautiful as you".

Professor Brownstein; "this world was not meant for someone as beautiful as you".

I am very curious to go through these sessions now, after the election. I did not follow along in the weeks leading up to the election because I found myself unable to attend to Substack without allowing the posts on Notes to affect my mindset considerably with the expectations so many had about how this election was going to go. I am under no illusions that somehow we have magically course corrected after the election and I wonder how reading this and the comments after the election will occur to me.
