Excellent. There is a kind of self-reinforcing feedback going on, as the pursuit of immediate pleasure is connected with with an unfilled hunger for more meaningful accomplishments, so we can get stuck in a "keep trying harder and faster" mindset.

"Schools are increasingly dedicated to indoctrination about race and gender."

This is a particularly destructive aspect of the challenges you're describing. Just today I read about a housing cooperative in Berkeley that has a Person of Color house where whites aren't allowed. Turns out it's the same co-op I lived in for three years when I was at Berkeley in the late '60's. This was a time of great racial consciousness, even anger, but Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream of a color-blind society had not yet died, and no one suggested, much less implemented, housing for minority students only. I could rant for paragraphs about what I think of my former co-op's practices today, but will resist. ;-)

Thank you, JdL.

I did read the story about the housing co-op at Berkeley. People with liberal values are silencing themselves and the result is that views inimical to a free society are flourishing.
