It goes beyond our Institutions. We have constructed malls as cathedrals and consumerism has become our religion. It places all emphasis on self. We’re introspective in our own families and care little about what’s beyond our front door. Most peoples lives are touched only by the company they work for and supermarket they shop in. If we as a culture can regard abortion as a right and defer life or death of sick children to the state as we have in the UK and propose ending life by suicide so as not to be a nuisance to our families in their pursuit of Other Stuff we can’t be surprised with the narcissistic outcomes. Our institutions alone cannot be held responsible. We are responsible. We would rather hope that things change than actively change them.

Alison, Well said. Our institutions can only reflect who we are as a people.
You nailed it! Ishtar and Molech, the gods of prosperity, have replaced the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Jesus Christ in western civilization.
Agree with all you said.
