"It is rare to find a politician who acknowledges and abandons a failed plan. They will likely double down to unite the largest possible number of citizens around their plans."

Trump and vaccines. I don't see what Trump gets by still promoting the obviously failed vaccines that are not vaccines but an experimental Mrna therapeutic. He also gave Big Pharma complete liability protection. The deaths from the vaccines are about to skyrocket and Trump is going to be blamed. Why would he do this?

Great question. Trump is a shoot from the hip kind of guy. He's not reading alternatives to the narrative, so he still believes these vaccines are safe and effective. So, he wants credit!

Our President has predicted a “winter of death” for the unvaccinated. A substantial number of evaluations of current Covid cases are beginning to point to increased infections among the vaccinated! Hopefully the an increasing number of citizens are seeing the deceptions that have been used against us. All in the name of power and control . Excellent thought provoking essay.

Much Respect to you, prof. B.

Thank you, Mike.

Economists think on the margin. Indeed, more citizens are seeing through the deception and this marginal change will produce change in 22. No, not from Biden and not from Fauci but from the ground up.

I'm not sure if it's comforting or horrifying to realize that the kind of madness the world is going through today has close parallels in the past. Comforting (perhaps) in that civilization survived past episodes, and horrifying in that humans never seem to learn from anything more distant than "My thumb hurt because I smashed it with the hammer!" Each of us remembers things we have experienced in our lives, but wisdom across generations seems elusive. Children are taught about Nazi atrocities and blind obedience to authority, but making the connection to current-day atrocities and blind obedience to authority, is often not just not considered, but actively resisted.

Thanks for highlighting Hayek, whose insights into the inevitable failure of centralized top-down decision-making are invaluable.

You hit it on the head. Indeed, actively resisted and deemed offensive. I'm writing several essays right now connecting more of the dots.
