Session 6, Part 2: The Illusion of Security
"It’s a mistake to believe we can simply outsource human charity to the government without consequence.”
Last week, in Session 5, thought-provoking questions were asked about social justice. What about “wage disparity?” What about “people unable to care for themselves due to disability?”
Angels walk among us, giving their lives and income to help those in need. In a society guided by classical liberal principles, we should anticipate an increase in such occurrences, not a decrease, in contrast to cronyism.
Let's remember that a successful non-crony businessperson can make a greater impact on reducing human suffering than a government official could in a million years. These entrepreneurs, too, can be seen as angels among us.
In the present day, it is common to assume that it is the government's duty to look after those in need. As Jon Miltimore argues, “it’s a mistake to believe we can simply outsource human charity to the government without consequence.”
