A house divided against itself will not stand. That is the answer. If we throw our brothers out of Heaven, we are throwing ourselves out of Heaven. It is completely reflexive.

Was Hitler’s totalitarianism worse than others? Were these ordinary people or were they caught up in something they couldn’t control? It’s not clear to me from this review. My own bias says there was nothing unique about what happened, and given similar circumstances it could easily happen again. Of course the cause might be different, like safety, and the scapegoats might be different, like the unvaccinated. Perhaps the threshold is just the number of people willing to go along with those in charge, and look the other way when bad things happen to other people.
